Asymmetry

Do you know what causes and how to treat breast asymmetry?
Find out in this article.

What causes breast asymmetry?

Breast asymmetry is extremely common and almost all women have some degree of asymmetry in the chest, as well as throughout the body. This look is completely natural when it is almost imperceptible. In cases where breast asymmetry is quite visible, there are associated factors: hormonal changes in adolescence, body changes caused by weight gain and loss, breastfeeding, among others. All these factors can generate or accentuate a previously existing breast asymmetry.

How to treat breast asymmetry?

When there is breast asymmetry only in terms of size, the correction can be made through an augmentation mammoplasty in which prostheses of different sizes are applied to achieve a balance between the two breasts, considerably reducing the asymmetry.

In cases where, in addition to the different size of the breast, there is also some fall and asymmetry of the areolas, the most indicated will be Mastopexy. In this surgery, the doctor will have more freedom for adjustments related to the shape and position of the nipples, and may also remove some excess breast tissue from the larger breast, promoting a more harmonious result.
