Sagging around the thighs, especially on the inside of the thighs, is usually caused by excessive weight loss or gain, aging and even genetic issues. In these cases there is also a tendency for localized fat to accumulate in this area which, in addition to the unwanted physical appearance, can also cause problems with diaper rash, make it difficult to practice physical exercise and condition clothing.
Cruroplasty or Thigh Lifting is a plastic surgery procedure that allows us to model and improve the contour of the thighs, eliminating local flaccidity and localized fat. In cases where there is excess fat, surgery can be associated with liposuction for a more satisfactory final result.
The Thigh Lift or Cruroplasty is a surgery performed through an incision in the groin or, in cases of more advanced flaccidity, in the inner thigh. Through this incision, excess skin is removed so that the surgeon “stretches” the skin to model the contour of the leg. The suture is placed in the groin area or on the inside of the thigh. Usually this surgery is preceded by a liposuction of the site that will undergo the lifting.
In cases where there is excess skin and fat, liposuction is first performed to remove localized fat. Then the procedure is performed just like a conventional thigh lift: an incision in the groin area to remove excess skin and reposition the skin in order to model the contour of the thigh.
Cruroplasty is indicated for people with excess skin on the inner side of the thigh, with relatively stable weight and without risks that would prevent the surgery from being performed. It is a surgery performed in approximately two to three hours, with general anesthesia and with one day of hospitalization.
After surgery, it is necessary to place drains that will remain in place for 24 to 48 hours. A compressive brace is also placed and must be worn for approximately one month. During this period, lymphatic drainage sessions should be performed two to three times a week. Work activity, as long as it requires little physical effort, can be resumed after seven days.
It is necessary to carry out general examinations to rule out any pathology that prevents surgery, as well as a vascular surgery consultation and examinations of the lower limbs, such as an echodoppler.
At Clínica Baptista Fernandes, all drainage sessions are included in the cost of the surgery, as the recovery process is essential for the success of the Cruroplasty. That’s why we have a team of therapists specially trained to carry out the drainage and, if necessary, ultrasound sessions and LED light therapy for a quick and healthy recovery. In addition, each patient receives direct contact from the doctor who performed the surgery so that they can contact him to clarify any doubts.
