Shaped and voluminous buttocks directly contribute to better body harmony. Therefore, many men and women have the desire to remodel this area of the body, since, due to genetic reasons, post-traumatic deformities, illnesses or even the sagging resulting from the aging process, they are dissatisfied with the shape and appearance of their your glutes.

In addition, it is not always possible to improve the shape and contour of the buttocks just with diet and regular physical exercise. Thus, in these cases, Gluteoplasty is the most indicated procedure since the placement of implants is an effective solution to increase, lift or remodel the buttocks. The surgery scar is not visible and the results are very satisfactory.

Surgical pre-treatment - Gluteoplasty

At Clínica Baptista Fernandes, before the Gluteoplasty, there is a whole preparation and planning that are fundamental for the definition of the surgical plan. This process is divided into 3 steps and they are:

1 – Assessment consultation
The first step consists of a consultation during which Dr. João Baptista Fernandes or Dr. Fátima Baptista Fernandes will gather all the patient’s information to understand their motivation and goals. In addition, measurements and photographs are taken to define the surgical plan.

2 – Choice of prostheses
Gluteal prostheses are very similar to breast prostheses, being even more resistant to pressure. The final result is quite natural, since the prostheses are made of a gelatinous and malleable material that is placed under or over the gluteal muscles.

There are several types of implants and to define which will be the most suitable for each case, it is necessary to take into account at least three elements: the size, the shape and the type of coating. These elements will directly influence the results of the gluteoplasty and, therefore, taking into account the patient’s wishes, the doctor will advise which prostheses will be the most suitable.

Size: There are implants of different sizes and, as such, advice on the ideal size by the doctor is essential to obtain the desired results.

Format: Gluteal implants can be round, anatomical, high profile or low profile. Each format promotes a different end result. For example, when the objective is a more natural result, as a rule, anatomical prostheses are used. If the objective is to project the buttocks in the upper part, round prostheses are usually used. However, each case must be evaluated individually for the right choice of format.

Type of coating: There are several types of coating for implants. There are implants with a smooth surface, textured, microtextured and with polyurethane coating and the choice will depend on what the doctor thinks is most advisable.

3 – Exams and doubts
The last step is to carry out tests to find out if you can perform the surgery. After that, you can make a new appointment to present the test results and to clarify questions you may have regarding the procedure. From there, it proceeds to surgery.

Surgical treatment - Gluteoplasty

Gluteoplasty is a surgical procedure that consists of making a vertical incision in the upper part of the intergluteal groove so that the surgeon can reach the muscle, creating a kind of bag to accommodate the prosthesis that can be placed on, under or inside the gluteus major muscle. After the application of the prostheses, the incision is sutured and a compression strap with the proper format for this surgery is applied.

Gluteoplasty : What else you need to know about the surgery

Gluteoplasty is plastic surgery performed in an outpatient setting under general anesthesia or sedation. The average procedure time ranges from two to three hours. Right after the surgery, it may be necessary to use a drain to absorb the fluids, which will be removed after one or two days.

After the surgery, you will leave the clinic with a compression brace and two days later you will start the drainage sessions to optimize the results and recovery. It is common to feel some discomfort in the first few days, which should be alleviated by taking analgesics and anti-inflammatories. In addition, you will have to sleep on your stomach or side for at least seven days.

Special care

At Clínica Baptista Fernandes, all drainage sessions are included in the cost of the surgery, as the recovery process is essential for the success of the Gluteoplasty. That’s why we have a team of therapists specially trained to carry out the drainage and, if necessary, ultrasound sessions and LED light therapy for a quick and healthy recovery. In addition, each patient receives direct contact from the doctor who performed the surgery so that they can contact him to clarify any doubts.

Common questions

The price of Gluteoplasty depends on several factors, such as the choice of prostheses. Therefore, only after a medical evaluation will it be possible to obtain an adjusted budget for each case.

The placement of prostheses helps to improve the appearance of cellulite. However, gluteoplasty is not a surgery that treats cellulite. To this end, you can complement the results of the surgery with treatments that reduce cellulite, such as Velashape III or Lanluma.

The pain associated with Gluteoplasty is quite variable from person to person. However, you will have medication to control the pain and lessen the discomfort you may experience.

The results last for many years as the prostheses have no shelf life. Some type of intervention will only be necessary if the prostheses break due to an accident.

No, you should always tell the doctor or nurse that you have gluteal prostheses.

Yes, by injecting the patient's own fat, that is, through a Liposculpture.

After two months you can restart the practice of physical exercise. With regard to contact with water, you must bear in mind that hot or warm water can delay the healing process, and therefore you should avoid wetting the area until it is completely healed.
