A harmonious body contour mainly depends on how body fat is distributed. Many people feel the need to alter the distribution of this fat in order to achieve a curvier silhouette and gain volume in certain areas of the body. In these cases, the most indicated procedure is Liposculpture.
Liposculpture or Lipofilling is plastic surgery whose objective is to shape and sculpt the body. The procedure consists of removing excess fat from certain areas of the body and applying it to areas where you want to gain volume, such as the buttocks, thighs or calves.
Liposculpture is a technique that achieves stable and long-lasting results, as the fat is not reabsorbed in the long term. The biggest advantage of using the patient’s own fat to model the body is that there is no risk of rejection by the body.
Liposculpture is a two-phase surgery performed under general anesthesia. The first phase involves performing a Liposuction, which consists of the aspiration of excess fat from one or more donor areas. The most common donor sites are the abdomen, thighs and flanks.
After being extracted from the body, the fat will be filtered and separated into several strata: blood, anesthetic fluids and pure fat. Normally, to obtain 5cc of pure fat, 10cc of aspirated fat is required. After this stage, small incisions are made to infiltrate this fat, through a microcannula, in the desired areas in order to shape them and give them volume.
Liposculpture is performed under general anesthesia and its duration varies depending on the amount of fat to be extracted and the areas where it will be applied.
The surgery does not require hospitalization. After the surgery, you will leave the clinic dressed in compression girdles that will have to be used for a month. The following day, he returns to the clinic to start the drainage sessions, which will take place twice a week for at least one month. These sessions are essential to treat the swelling and edema that usually arise after surgery.
Work activity can be resumed after four days and physical exercise after one month. You shouldn’t take a shower during the first three days and you can’t expose yourself to the sun during the first few months to avoid skin spots and edema.
Finally, as in all interventions, prior medical examinations are mandatory to detect any situation that may contraindicate surgery. Smokers who wish to undergo this type of surgery must refrain from smoking for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the procedure because tobacco can impair the healing process.
At Clínica Baptista Fernandes, all drainage sessions are included in the cost of the surgery, as the recovery process is essential for the success of the Abdominoplasty. That’s why we have a team of therapists specially trained to carry out the drainage and, if necessary, ultrasound sessions and LED light therapy for a quick and healthy recovery. In addition, each patient receives direct contact from the doctor who performed the surgery so that they can contact him to clarify any doubts.
