The nose is one of the main elements of the face that has the most impact on facial harmony. The shape of the bridge of the nose, the tip of the nose and even its size are aspects that directly contribute to a beautiful facial structure. Congenital malformations or traumas that occur throughout life can compromise the appearance of the face and, consequently, the patient’s self-esteem.
For the treatment of these aesthetic aspects of the nose and to obtain better facial harmony, Rhinomodelation is a non-surgical option with effects similar to those of a rhinoplasty. However, while rhinoplasty is the surgical treatment of all aesthetic and functional alterations of the nose, rhinomodelation is a non-surgical approach that only improves the less aesthetic aspects of the nasal pyramid through the application of hyaluronic acid.
Therefore, Rhinomodelation is aimed mainly at treating small defects or malformations or at retouching some detail after a rhinoplasty. Therefore, rhinomodelation has limitations, such as not being able to reduce a large nose or lower the nasal tip. However, it offers a series of advantages over surgery: it is not very invasive, it is fast and does not require recovery.
After a careful assessment of the deformities to be treated in the nose and taking into account the facial harmony, the place where the cannula will be introduced is disinfected and a local anesthetic is applied. Then hyaluronic acid is applied to the desired areas in order to model the entire nasal pyramid, instantly modifying the shape of the nose. After the procedure, ice is applied, the area is massaged and an adhesive dressing is applied to model.
Rhinomodelation is a very quick and painless procedure, as it is done under local anesthesia. This procedure does not require recovery time and, as such, you can resume your normal life after it has been performed. However, you may experience some swelling (controllable with ice) in the first few days after the procedure. Physical exercise should be avoided until two days after the procedure and the use of sunscreen is advised for at least five days.
This procedure must be carried out by a doctor with experience in facial anatomy, otherwise problems may arise in the nose, both aesthetically and functionally. There must be a prior assessment of the nasal cavities and paranasal sinuses to rule out sequelae from previous surgeries, deformations or fistulas that contraindicate the application. Furthermore, although injectable hyaluronic acid is currently completely biocompatible with the human body, it is important to rule out allergies to this product. In terms of results, these are visible immediately after the procedure and last for up to a year, depending on each organism.
