What causes acne?

Acne is a skin disorder caused by excess sebum produced in the sebaceous glands that cannot be expelled through the skin orifices because they are clogged. This excess fat is infected by bacteria on the skin, causing inflammation and eruptions, popularly known as "pimples". This obstruction can be caused by several factors, such as excess oil production, hormonal disruption, in places on the face where bacteria will cause local infection with pus.

Acne can occur at all ages, although it is more common in teenagers (due to hormonal issues) and people with oily skin (due to excess sebum). It can also appear in different areas of the body, with the most common areas being the face, neck, chest, shoulders and back.

What causes acne?

One of the main skin care measures to treat and prevent acne is proper cleansing. The lack of cleanliness facilitates the accumulation of dead cells which, together with excess oil, clog pores and favor the appearance of pimples. In addition, physical or chemical exfoliation of the skin also contributes to the treatment and prevention of acne, as it removes dead cells, preventing pore obstruction.
